Teacher Education Opportunities

Teacher Education students have many opportunities at Three Rivers. In keeping with the college’s mission of quality, accessibility and affordability, the teacher education program focuses on bring teacher education to our students through both dan and evening programs at several sites.

In addition, Three Rivers has signed articulation agreements with universities across the state. Students who complete their AAT degree at Three Rivers should experience a seamless transfer to any Missouri college or university. Listed below are programs most often selected by Three Rivers graduates:

Hannibal-LeGrange College offers an elementary education degree with all courses taught on the Three Rivers campus on Monday and Thursday nights in a 3 semester format. Only 40 hours are required through HLG. All other courses can be taken at Three Rivers. Both elementary education (grades 1-6) and early childhood education (pre-kindergarten through grade 3) are offered. (Hannibal-LeGrance College in Hannibal, Mo.)

Southeast Missouri State University offers both an elementary degree and middle school degree with courses via ITV, online courses and courses on the Three Rivers campus so that a student can complete a degree without ever driving to Cape Girardeau. A 4 semester timeframe is usually required. An Early Childhood endorsement is offered. (Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo.)

University of Missouri – Columbia has an agreement with Three Rivers so that students may transfer directly to the Mizzou campus as juniors.  (University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.)

Missouri State University has an agreement with Three Rivers so that students may transfer directly to the Springfield campus as juniors. (Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.

Arkansas State University has an agreement signed with Three Rivers for an AA degree. Students following the AA degree program outlined in the Three Rivers college catalog can experience a seamless transfer to ASU. (Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.)

Central Methodist University has plans to bring Secondary Math Education and Special Education to the Three Rivers campus for fall 2008. The Special Education program will be a three-way collaboration between Three Rivers, Central Methodist, and St. Louis University. (Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.) 

Southwest Baptist University has a signed agreement with Three Rivers so that students can transfer directly to the SBU campus in Bolivar or complete an elementary education degree at their campuses in Salem or Mountain View.(Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo.) 

• Any other college of choice – Students who know they are transferring to other schools may speak with the Coordinator of Teacher Education early in their program to develop a plan specific to their transfer school.
