Welcome to Blackboard
Requirements for Use
Blackboard is web-based software that integrates course materials with communications tools. In many instances the computer will be the only contact you have with your Instructor and other classmates.
To access Blackboard you will need the following products and competencies:
- A high speed internet connection is highly recommended. If DSL, cable, or
satellite is unavailable in your area a dial-up connection will suffice however, when taking timed tests in Blackboard a dial up connection will seriously hinder you ability to finish on time. If dial-up is your only option it is suggested that users take Blackboard tests at one of the TRCC Education Centers.
- A 800Mhz PC or higher with at least 16Mb of RAM
- A web browser – Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer – version 4.0 or higher
- An email account and the knowledge of how to send and receive email
- The ability to navigate the web (using a browser) and handle multiple open windows
- The ability to open, close and save files and attachments
To Log On to Blackboard:
Direct your browser to the Blackboard Server.
- Click the Login button
- Enter your Username - Your user name is the last 5 digits of your TRCC student ID.
- Enter your Password - Your password is the last 4 digits of your social security number. If you have any problems logging in contact the Blackboard Administrator at 573-840-9544 or email blackboard@trcc.edu
- Click on the course name to select your course from the list on the My Institution screen. When you enter a course you immediately see the Announcements page. Use the navigation buttons down the left hand side of the screen to view the various areas of the course. The Blackboard course environment is viewed by single-clicking on any of the navigation buttons, folder titles, links, etc.
- Please note that the Blackboard server is unavailable on Fridays from 4 AM to 7 AM CST for regularly scheduled maintenance.
