THREE RIVERS STUDENTS WIN MEDALS AT STATE COMPETITION
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - Two members of the Three Rivers Community College SkillsUSA organization won first place honors at the statewide SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference. Tina L. Davis of Poplar Bluff received first place in the state in Chapter Display and she now qualifies to compete in the National SkillsUSA contest in Kansas City later this summer. Davis is a 1988 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School and is the daughter of Joanne Crider of Poplar Bluff and the late James Crider Sr. Davis is a student in the Business Management evening program at Three Rivers. Dortha Papayik of Poplar Bluff won first in Cosmetology, second place in Cosmetology Technical Information and second place in Job Interview at the statewide competition. She now qualifies to compete in the National SkillsUSA contest. She is the daughter of Sam and Debra Papayik of Poplar Bluff. She is a student in the Diversified Technology - Cosmetology program at Three Rivers and will graduate this May. More than 2,000 students, teachers and representatives of business, industry, education and government from throughout Missouri attended the state SkillsUSA contest. The state competition was held on the campus of Linn State Technical College in Linn. SkillsUSA is a national organization serving trade, industrial, technical and health occupations students in career and technical centers and two-year colleges. SkillsUSA has more than 250,000 student and professional members and is organized in more than 13,000 chapters throughout the United States.
