Cooper, TRCC President TRCC serves more than 3,200 students enrolled in more than 30 associate degree curricula intended for transfer for baccalaureate completion and in technical or career degree and certificate programs. The college also serves over 3,700 students in non-credit and continuing education courses and activities off-campus throughout the 15-county service region. At the present time, the college offers courses at over 28 extension sites beyond the Poplar Bluff campus. The college has a significant and positive impact on Southeast Missouri economy by providing skilled, well-educated graduates who are able to assume positions of responsibility in industry, business, government, and education. We are well known and respected for our ability to work with local businesses/industries in tailoring customized training to fit employer needs. Since we believe that our most precious resource is our “human capital,” student accomplishments are our highest priority. We strive for excellence in academics. We also believe that student activities and co-curricular experiences are important parts of the mission of a comprehensive community college. In an age of technological complexity, TRCC provides an arena in which personal qualities and abilities are emphasized and developed. From our two-time National Championship Men’s Basketball “Raiders” teams, to our Academic All-Americans and our highly acclaimed Music and Arts programs, we are proud of each student’s development and accomplishments. Community Colleges are an American invention and are often called “democracy’s colleges.” As proud graduates of a community college, my wife, Linda, and I can attest to the opportunities for personal growth and quality educational experiences available through the community college system.
