Agriculture
Course Requirements
Three Rivers' Agriculture Department offers courses that can lead to careers in animal science, agronomy, soil science, horticulture, ag-business and agriculture education. Regional and national trends in recent years indicate shortages of graduates in all areas.

Career and Leadership Opportunities

Three Rivers' Agriculture Department offers career and leadership opportunities for students through association with regional and national organizations. Three Rivers hosts a number of regional high school conferences of the Future Farmers of America, including the annual Southeast Missouri Greenhand Motivational Conference, FFA CDE Contests and National FFA Convention. The Aggies co-sponsor the AG EXPO, an annual regional agriculture weekend event that attracts hundreds of people from throughout the Southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas area.

Biology
Course Requirements
The Biology Department curriculum is taught by instructors who work with the students both in the classroom and the lab. Lab work ties closely with material covered in the classroom. The Three Rivers biology labs in the Westover Administration Building on the main campus in Poplar Bluff were expanded and completely updated in 2007. These two “new and improved labs” combined with the new labs at Three Rivers' centers in Sikeston, Malden, Portageville and Kennett provide Three Rivers students with state-of-the-art laboratory experiences.

Chemistry
Course Requirements
Chemistry is often called the "central science" since the basic principals of chemistry are closely related to other areas of science. Three Rivers Community College's chemistry program prepares you for success - not only in the field of chemistry, but also in many science-related occupations. You'll have a unique opportunity to gain skills that will enable you to pursue numerous paths to your career goals. Studying chemistry and physical science at Three Rivers can lead to careers in education, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, medicine, engineering, agriculture and much more. Three Rivers' chemistry labs on the main campus in Poplar Bluff  bring the latest state-of-the-art technology to campus. Three Rivers also has complete up-to-date labs at the college's education centers in Malden, Kennett, Portageville and Sikeston.

Early Childhood Education
Course Requirements
TRCC Early Childhood Program provides learning and training opportunities for students that are wanting to obtain a AA in Early Childhood Education. The program follows NAEYC guidelines and recommendations from the Council for Professional Recognition. The Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education is designed for students who plan to transfer to the teacher education program at Arkansas State University to major in Early Childhood Education. Students whose goal is to teach pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade should complete this program. If you love children, want to own your own day care, work in a public school, or a Head Start this is a rewarding career opportunity.


Education
Course Requirements
Three Rivers Community College can help students take important steps in preparation to become an educator. With partnerships with four-year colleges and universities throughout Missouri and Arkansas, students graduating from Three Rivers with a degree in teaching can transfer to a 4-year institution to complete their bachelor's degree in education.
Teacher Education at Three Rivers College

Three Rivers Community College is on the cutting edge of helping prepare the next generation of classroom teachers. Three Rivers has taken a lead with other community colleges in Missouri in developing the Associate of Arts in Teaching degree. Three Rivers students who graduate with the new AAT degree will be able to transfer to any 4-year university or college in Missouri to complete their bachelor's degree in education.

Teacher Education students at Three Rivers have many opportunities to observe, teach and work with students and classroom teachers in public school settings. From the onset of the program - the Teaching Profession and Field Experience class - until the Portfolio Seminar, Three Rivers students have a variety of experiences and are given numerous opportunities to observe and reflect upon emerging teaching trends.

Environmental Horticulture
Course Requirements
The AA degree for Environmental Horticulture is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in Agriculture, Plant Sciences or Environmental Horticulture. The Environmental Horticulture Program teaches the basic skills and provides state-of-the-art information required to develop a strong foundation for a variety of career specialties within the landscaping, ornamental horticulture and the regenerative and restoration industry.

Forensic Science
Course Requirements
The Forensic Science Studies program addresses the interdisciplinary nature of forensic science. Forensic Science is the application of science to the criminal justice system. The course of study focuses heavily on criminal justice and the sciences. The AA graduate will have an opportunity to transfer seamlessly to a four-year college or university to major in Forensic Science.

Forestry
Course Requirements
With the management of our forest resources being vital to the economy of our state and our area, the Forestry program at Three Rivers Community College provides an important service to our region. The Forestry program at Three Rivers is a 2-year program of study leading to an Associates of Applied Science Degree.  Graduates find employment in a variety of forestry and natural resources occupations including opportunities with  state and federal forestry agencies, forest industry, environmental consulting firms, forestry consulting firms, The National Park Service, and The US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Mathematics
Course Requirements
Our courses provide the foundation for a four-year degree in mathematics, serve as prerequisites for many science and technology courses and train students in problem solving and logical thinking. The study of mathematics can lead to careers as an educator, operations research management, engineering, statistics, research and development and in actuary.

Technology Learning Center Math Lab and Teacher Assistance
The Three Rivers Technology Learning Center is the place to go for assistance with math homework. Tutors are on hand to assist with assignments and learning key concepts. In addition, all full-time mathematics faculty members have at least 10 hours each week that are available for student advisement.

Physical Science
Course Requirements
The Physical Science program at Three Rivers provides a strong science background for transfer to a four-year university. The curriculum prepares students for study leading to a bachelor's degree in a variety of fields, including chemistry, geology and physics. It is also a first step toward a graduate degree in medical science. Through Three Rivers' physical science programs, student may prepare for and conduct scientific experiments, use and understand basic instrumentation, analyze and interpret scientific data and demonstrate an extensive problem-solving capability.

Pre-Engineering
Course Requirements
The Associate of Arts degree, Pre-Engineering concentration, is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in Engineering. Three Rivers have course paths which lead to major parallels with Arkansas State University and Missouri University of Science and Technology. Students desiring to transfer to Missouri University of Science and Technology should consult the Director of Academic Advising to receive the "Model Program for Transfers." Students should confirm with the receiving institution the transferability of credit hours.

Pre-Medicine
Course Requirements
The Associate of Arts degree, Pre-Medicine concentration, is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in Pre-Medicine. Pre-Medicine studies will allow students to observe, hypothesize, experiment, and form conclusions in various settings; Integrate knowledge from multiple biological disciplines and apply to unfamiliar or challenging situations; and communicate about ideas coherently and logically.

Pre-Optometry
Course Requirements
The Associate of Arts degree, Pre-Optometry concentration, is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in Optometry. Optometrists and optometry-related organizations interact with governmental agencies, other health care professionals, and the community to deliver eye and vision care.

Pre-Pharmacy
Course Requirements
Why do some medications make people drowsy? Why do others make some people feel agitated or nervous? Why is it important for pregnant women to avoid many medications? How are medicines made, and how do they go to work in our bodies? If these questions intrigue you, you may have a future in pharmacy. The Three Rivers Pre-Pharmacy program will help you get started. The Associate of Arts degree, Pre-Pharmacy concentration, is designed for student who plan to transfer to four-year college or university Pharmacy School.

Pre-Veterinary Medicine
Course Requirements
In addition to general practice, doctors of veterinary medicine have opportunities to engage in small and large animal practice, wildlife or exotic zoo animal medicine, teaching and research, public health work, livestock disease control and meat inspection, and biomedical research.  Additionally doctors of veterinary medicine are employed by pharmaceutical laboratories, state and county agencies, departments of agriculture, and various public health services. The AA degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

Psychology
Course Requirements
The Psychology degree provides a sequence of courses for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to major in psychology. This program includes coursework in the psychology of personal adjustment, adolescent understanding, marriage and family and social issues. Students should identify an intended transfer institution as early as possible and verify credit transfer acceptability and limitations.
