Political advisor, analyst Kevin Madden to speak at Three Rivers Commencement
CNN political analyst Kevin Madden will be the keynote speaker for Three Rivers College's Commencement ceremony, to be held May 18 at 4 p.m. at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. The ceremony will be free and open to the public.
In addition to his work as a political analyst for CNN, Madden has served a Senior Advisor to Governor Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign. He was also National Press Secretary for Governor Romney's 2008 campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. Madden currently is a partner and executive vice president at JDA Frontline, a public affairs firm.
"We're pleased to have Kevin Madden as our keynote speaker. He's an immensely talented speaker with a long history of work at the highest levels of politics," said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President of Three Rivers College. "We appreciate Mr. Madden taking the time out of his busy schedule to help us commemorate Commencement at Three Rivers. We encourage anyone who wants to celebrate with us to join us for the ceremony."
Prior to joining Governor Romney's campaign, Madden served as Press Secretary to then-House Majority Leader John Boehner. In that office, he served as a top communications strategist for the House of Representatives leadership office charged with directing legislative action. Before beginning work on Capitol Hill, Madden served as the Department of Justice's national spokesman on issues ranging from national security to litigation before the federal courts. He was also a member of President George W. Bush's media team during the 2004 campaign, serving as the president's campaign spokesman. Madden currently resides in Washington, D.C.
Commencement 2014 will also feature a musical performance by gospel group Geron Davis & Kindred Souls. The group will perform "I Will Sing," written by Davis, and "God Bless America." The group also features Davis' wife Becky, Angela Primm, and Evan Milby. The group is based out of Nashville, Tennessee.
