POPLAR BLUFF - As the clock struck midnight on July 1, there was a technical transformation at Three Rivers. Yet unlike Cinderella's coach turning into a pumpkin, the old Three Rivers website transformed like magic in the blink of an eye into a new contemporary site with a bright, modern look and up-to-date features.
The new website is the product of two months of intensive work. Armed with input from College faculty and staff and students, Three Rivers News Director Annabeth Miller worked with the staff of Kyrios Media in Memphis, TN, to develop the new website. A core group of college faculty, staff and students offered input and assistance during the design process. In addition, a focus group of high school students from the Southeast Missouri region offered their advice and suggestions on final selection.
The new website has the same address as the previous site - www.trcc.edu. The new site went "live" at the stroke of midnight on July 1. New features and content will be added later this fall.
"Three Rivers now has a website that is contemporary, attractive, user-friendly and loaded with new features," said College President Dr. Devin Stephenson. "In its first month of being online, the new Three Rivers website has had over 200,000 visitors. We are thrilled with the response to the website and know it will be a powerful communications, marketing and recruiting tool for the College in the years ahead."
The new website is up and running just in time for the arrival of students for the start of the Fall 2009 semester at Three Rivers. Registration at the College reopens August 11 and classes will begin August 13.
"We are excited for our students to begin to utilize this new website. It will be an important tool for them as they begin a successful year at Three Rivers," Stephenson said. "Our students' success is the number one priority at Three Rivers Community College. This new website will be an important tool for our students as they are on their own pathway to success."
In addition to the new features and look, the Three Rivers website has a homepage link to the College's new Twitter account for students, faculty/staff and friends. This new communications tool will blast news on college events, class cancellations and campus closures during bad weather to those who join Twitter and "follow" the College. To "tweet" with the College, just click on the Twitter icon on the homepage!
At Three Rivers Community College, student success is the first priority. A wide variety of academic and workforce programs are offered by Three Rivers on the main campus in Poplar Bluff, at full-service centers throughout the region and through online learning opportunities.
