
On January 11, 2010, Missouri governor Jay Nixon introduced the Training for Tomorrow initiative, which will provide $12 million in competitive grant money to Missouri community colleges.
"The best and fastest way for us to get Missourians working is to invest in high-tech, high-demand training programs, and that's exactly what we're here today to do," Nixon said in an announcement to Three Rivers allied health students, faculty and community members. "There is simply not enough room for all the students who want to learn, and that must change."
Nixon stated that high-growth areas like health care and public safety are in desperate need of trained, skilled employees, but that Missouri colleges need more equipment and resources in order to train enough workers to meet the demand. Here at Three Rivers College, Training for Tomorrow grant money is used to cover many of the costs of expanding the high-demand degree programs listed below.
