Three Rivers College student awarded funds from the Allison Grace Daughhetee Scholarship
Stephanie Bishop, a Nursing student at Three Rivers College, has received the Allison Grace Daughhetee Scholarship. Bishop, who lives in Bloomfield, is the daughter of Angela and Duff Bishop of Cape Girardeau, and the granddaughter of Sue and Briney Wellborn.
“I chose nursing for many reasons, but the most important reasons are my children first and foremost,” said Bishop, a mother of two. “I’ve had a great experience at Three Rivers with wonderful instructors and a flexible program.”
Bishop is enrolled in the evening RN program. She said that her future plans include completing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and eventually becoming a nurse practitioner.
The scholarship was endowed in memory of Allison Grace Daughhetee, the daughter of Three Rivers nursing graduates Ronnie and Melissa Daughhetee, who were in the process of completing their degrees when their daughter was killed in a car accident. Three Rivers College created the scholarship fund as a gift to Allison Daughhetee's parents, announcing the endowment to the couple as they received their degrees in nursing. The scholarship is awarded annually to a nontraditional student in the Three Rivers nursing programs.
This scholarship represents some of the more than $60,000 awarded to students this fall by the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, a 501(c)(3) organization that receives and manages donations on behalf of Three Rivers College. The Endowment Trust provides a mutually beneficial means for individuals and businesses to partner with the College.
